Today marks the arrival of the latest wireless wearable sensor module from Shimmer. The Bridge Amplifier+ is now available to purchase from the Shimmer e-store as part of a Development Kit arrangement or as part of our all new Shimmer3 Bridge Amplifier+ bundle.
The newest addition to the Shimmer product family will offer those wishing to conduct force and resistance measurement with Shimmer3, an ideal solution to do so. The new module is tailored to those wishing to conduct data capture from low-output sensors, for example load, weigh, force , torque and pressure measurements.
The board features two ports, one of which is suitable for users who are targeting strain gauge based bridge sensor or load cell measurements now have the freedom to choose their preferred peripheral with the knowledge that it can interact effectively with the Shimmer3 platform. One area where this could prove to be a useful tool is in the area of muscle capacity testing including but not limited to lift -bar and grip strength.
The other port on the Shimmer Bridge Amplifier+ is a high impedance preamplifier for resistance measurement. This port allows for flexible interfacing of additional probes to deliver richer sensing data. For example this can be used when measuring data from a temperature sensor which the Shimmer Bridge Amplifier product bundle will provide. The sensor module also harnesses the 10DoF Kinematic functionality that is associated with the Shimmer3 platform and gives users the option to stream or log force data as dictated by their applications requirements.
An effective combination of sensing capability incorporated in the Bridge Amplifier+ will allow users to create novel sensing applications which can be composed using available Shimmer enabling software applications and drivers.
