For users who are looking to capture sensor data in mobile scenarios with increased flexibility and the utmost simplicity, Shimmer has launched two new Android applications to optimize the data collection process on mobile devices.
These versatile mobile apps allow for the direct integration with Shimmer sensors and offer an intuitive method for real-time visualization and extraction of sensor signals.
ShimmerCapture For Android
The first of these new Android Apps is ShimmerCapture for Android. Shimmer has recently launched ShimmerCapture for Android, which leverages all of the features users currently associate with ShimmerCapture for Windows, while making the application suitable for on-the-go data capture.
The app is compatible with Android devices that support Bluetooth and are running Android v4.0 or later and ShimmerCapture can be used to set-up remote sensor applications with relative ease. Just like its Windows counterpart, ShimmerCapture for Android can be used with Shimmer’s latest firmware release LogAndStream which offers users the unique ability to stream sensor data and log sensor data to a Shimmer unit’s microSD card simultaneously.
Just as LogAndStream and ShimmerCapture have expanded on existing firmware and software applications ShimmerCapture for Android offers the added benefit of exploiting Shimmer3’s potential on-the-fly. The application allows for enhanced session management options as it provides an effective user interface for remote sensor configuration using Android devices.
9DoF Calibration For Android
For Shimmer users seeking an application for the precise calibration of Shimmer sensors in a mobile scenario, Shimmer has launched the 9DoF Calibration application for Android. This can be used with Shimmer2r and Shimmer3 units to calculate the calibration parameters for the accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer sensors.
9DoF Calibration for Android uses a simple user interface that allows for data visualization of raw and calibrated data in real-time. In addition to this the application offers the user the ability to save the calibration parameters to the Shimmer memory so that they can be recalled by other applications for speedy automated calibration of sensor data.
The new 9DoF also features enhanced magnetometer visualization with the inclusion of a ‘MAG AXES SELECT’ button which can be used to select which two magnetometer axes to plot, in an XY graph on the home screen.
