Dublin, Ireland – July 03, 2024. Shimmer Research, a leading global supplier of wearable wireless motion and biophysical sensors, today announced the pre-alpha release of Shimmer Swift API and example projects. This release marks a milestone development for the Shimmer platform as the first release to cater for Shimmer sensor use on macOS and iOS platforms.
Future and current Shimmer3 sensors with a BLE RN4678 radio (started shipping in March 2022) are compatible for use. Please consult table below or contact [email protected] for assistance to determine if your sensor/s contain RN4678 BLE support. Users are advised to ensure their sensors are updated to the latest LogAndStream firmware release, currently LogAndStream_Shimmer3_BLE_v0.16.004.
For the past decade, the Shimmer3 range of sensors have been successfully integrated into a large number of market ready applications supporting the use of wireless body sensing in areas such as clinical assessment, consumer and clinical psychology, rehabilitation and sports performance. It is anticipated that the release of Shimmer Swift API will further enable the development of commercial applications in wireless body sensing, in addition to supporting the continued research ongoing at academic level.
Shimmer is currently working on further releases to support use on macOS and iOS platforms, which will include support for Shimmer’s primary software application ConsensysPRO.
